Johnny Garza pursues his passion of being a plaintiff’s attorney, specializing in personal injury and wrongful death claims as a partner at Adame★Garza, LLP.
As part of the landmark case, Republic Waste Services of Texas Ltd. v. Elida Griselda Martinez, Mr. Garza helped the family of an undocumented immigrant obtain a wrongful death award based on his U.S. earnings. The verdict was upheld in the Texas Court of Appeals after the company appealed the basis of the future wages on U.S. earnings rather than what the deceased would have earned in El Savador.
Mr. Garza received his Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Latin American studies from Texas A&M University, graduating cum laude in 1998. He then earned his Juris Doctorate from University of Houston Law Center, cum laude, in 2002.
After successfully defending Fortune 500 companies domestically and internationally in personal injury litigation, insurance coverage litigation, commercial litigation, construction litigation and securities fraud at Royston Rayzor, Mr. Garza joined Abraham Watkins, one of the oldest and most prominent plaintiff’s firms in Houston in 2006. In 2011, he joined Miguel Adame to lead the litigation practice at Adame★Garza, LLP . He has been named a Texas SuperLawyer and among Houston’s Top Lawyers by H Magazine, a Rising Star by Texas Monthly as well as Aztec Muse Magazine. He is currently licensed to practice law in Texas and before the U.S. District Courts for the Southern District of Texas. Mr. Garza is certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in personal injury law.
Mr. Garza is also a respected leader in the Hispanic community. He has been recognized by the Hispanic National Bar Association as one of the Top Lawyers Under 40. He was also named an Outstanding Young Latino Attorney by the Mexican American Bar Association of Texas Foundation and an Influential Leader of the Future by Latino Leaders Magazine. He has worked with the East End Project and adopts a family each year along with partner Miguel Adame through La Rosa Family Services’ Adopt-a-Family program.
